John A. “Big John†Briggs, 53, of South Hannah Drive, Zanesville passed away at 4:32 pm Friday, April 20th 2012, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus after injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
John was born September 21, 1958 in Parkersburg, WV, the son of the late Lawrence M. and Betty Jean (Utt) Briggs.
John worked as a truck driver for the New Bakery in Zanesville, he was previously employed at the Burnham Foundry and Zanesville Implement and he enjoyed tractor pulling and was an avid karaoke singer. He was a member of the Old Steam & Gas Club and FOE #302.
John is survived by his wife Diane (Wilson) Briggs, whom he married June 9, 1979; his son Craig (Ashley) Briggs of Orrville and his daughter Carry (Shawn) Sprankel of Duncan Falls; his grandchildren Kira and Rhiannon Briggs; his sister Billie Briggs of Parkersburg and his brothers Tom (Julie) Briggs of Orrville, Doug (Marilyn) Briggs of Smithville, Steve (Tina) Briggs of Massillon and Matt Briggs of Wooster.
Fraternal Order of Eagles #302 will hold services at 7:30 pm Monday.
Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls where funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday with Rev. David Helser. He will be laid to rest in Olivet Cemetery, Thornville.
