Fighting for His Health and His Home

Jim Weaver has been hospitalized 10 times in 12 months. Cancer took one of his kidneys, he has complications from diabetes, and he even suffered a major heart attack.
"I died on the operating table once in May, and they revived me," said Jim.
27 prescriptions are keeping Jim alive along with a defibrillator that shocks his heart if it stops beating again.
"I continue to go into the hospital once every month or two months," said Jim. "I’ll go in with a small attack."
Jim has racked up hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills, and doctors have told his wife Roberta that the odds are not in Jim’s favor for long-term survival.
"You try to keep all the stress from him that you can, which is hard, and you just try to take care of everything yourself," said Roberta.
His health isn’t the only hardship. Jim’s family owned and operated business fell apart.
"When I lost my job, the whole family lost their jobs, and in the market now, it’s just impossible," said Jim.
Roberta is now employed as a part-time cashier at Dollar General making minimum wage.
"It was rough," said Roberta. "I put in application after application, and for most places, I wasn’t qualified. Even though I had 10 years of experience, I didn’t have a piece of paper that said I knew what I was doing."
The couple hasn’t been able to make a mortgage payment since April, but they’ve been trying to make an arrangement with Bank of America.
"We called them the first of May to try to work with them and tell them that we were having problems, and we weren’t going to be able to make a payment, but they didn’t even want to talk to us," said Roberta.
"They just suck it out of you," said Jim. "They suck the life right out of you."
The Weaver’s received the forclosure notice two months later, and the home will be up for grabs at the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Sale on Friday.
"I’m going to make a letter that states exactly what’s happening," said Jim. "If you buy my house, you’re kicking a dying man out on the street."
Jim also posted a video on YouTube pleading for help (www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwro-wKXRIQ&feature=youtu.be), and he made a new promise to Bank of America.
"If I don’t have any other place to go, the only way they’re getting me out of the house is in handcuffs," said Jim.
Time is running out for Jim and Roberta to save their home, and time isn’t something they take for granted.
"All of that, the diabetes and the heart problems combined, he doesn’t have a lot of time left," said Roberta.
