Harold L. Clymer, 90, of Zanesville passed away at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Thursday, October 23, 2014. Harold was born June 2, 1924 in Uniontown, Pa., the son of John H. and Goldie Baker Clymer. He graduated from the old North Union High School in Uniontown, Pa. Harold was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church after transferring from Brighton Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, as a Supply Tech, flying in supplies to General Patton’s Third Army during Africa, Sicily and Italy Campaigns. He received the Good Conduct Metal, European African Middle Eastern Service Awards and three Bronze Stars. After his Honorable Discharge from the service he worked as Area Sales Rep for Kellogg’s Cereal Co. and Leaver Brothers of New York and an Area Sales Rep. for the American Greetings Corp. where he retired after 30 years of service.
He also served on the Board of Directors for The Stilwell Youth Center. He was a lifetime member of Muskingum Valley Old Timers Association and served as a business agent for 17 years. He also is a member of Muskingum Valley Old Timers Association Hall of Fame. He served as Falls Township Trustee during the 1980’s.
Harold is survived by his daughters: Judy Clymer and Shirley Roberts of Zanesville, Audrey Rasmussen (Ken) of Cleveland, Nancy Nash (Chris) of Georgia; sons: Larry Clymer (Karen) of Michigan, Danny Clymer of Florida, Randy Clymer of Columbus and Tony Clymer (Ann) of Florida; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and his brother Jim Clymer of California..
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Cochran Clymer and two brothers Donald Clymer and John Clymer, Jr.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Oct. 26, 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W. MILTARY RD. Services will be held in the Snouffer Chapel 11 A.M. Monday. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with full Military Honors conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1058.
