Ronald J. Garland age 75 of Zanesville, died Sunday February 8, 2015 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice. He was born August 19, 1939 in Oakdale, PA to the late James and Alda Cooper Garland.
Ron was employed by Ferro Corporation a Fortune 500 Company his entire career until he retired 15 years ago. He was a graduate of Kent State University and furthered his education from there. He started as an Industrial engineer in East Liverpool and transferred to Zanesville. He became Manager and then General Manager over several operations both in state, out of state and traveled internationally for the company. Ron was a member of many and various organizations including the American Ceramic Society, Zanesville United Way, Zanesville Jaycees, Zanesville Noon-time Rotary Club, member of Genesis Healthcare Systems Black Lung and Respiratory Health Clinic, and a thirty plus year member of Zanesville County Club. Ron enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fast pitch softball player until the age of 48.
Ron is survived by his wife of 21 years Gail Garland, his father-in-law Cyril Adams of Crooksville, daughters Beth Winkler (Dave) of Caledonia, Michigan, and Sue Smith, Step-Son Joshua Jones (Jill), Step-daughter Marisa Jones of Columbus, six grandchildren Alli Dumolt (Adam), Chad Winkler of Caledonia, Mollie Smith, Morgan Winkler of Caledonia, Jaedon Torres of Columbus, and Xavier Jones. Sister, Carol Waggle (Richard) of East Liverpool, Ohio, brother, Gary (Patty) Garland of Boardman, Ohio, Sister-In-Law Sharon Worthington of Crooksville and several beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marian Rayl Garland a daughter, Kimberly Garland and mother-in-law, Janice V. Adams.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 7 pm Wednesday Feb. 11th and from 5 pm till time of Candlelight Services which begin at 6 PM Thursday Feb 12th at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. with William Clark officiating.
