Steven Richard Ward (June 25, 1949 – April 13, 2015)

ZANESVILLE
Steven Richard Ward of Zanesville passed away Monday April 13, 2015 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. Steve was born June 25, 1949 in Zanesville, the son of Elizabeth Stump Ward of Zanesville and the late Marvin Richard “Dick” Ward. He retired as Network Operations Manager at Ameritech in Columbus with nearly 30 years of service on July 16, 1999. Steve and Nancy both retired from Ameritech on the same day. Steve is a 1967 graduate of West Muskingum High School.
After their retirement Steve and Nancy enjoyed several camping vacations in the western states. Steve really loved the mountains of Colorado, Montana, Nevada and Arizona. He also enjoyed camping with Nancy and his parents in the West Virginia Mountains. They also bought a small house in Florida and enjoyed the summer in Ohio and winter months in Florida.
Steve was a member of Finley United Methodist Church where he and Nancy were married on August 5, 1972. He was also a member of Sunrise Lodge F&AM in Gahanna, AMROU Grotto, the Muskingum Valley Beagle Club and Zanesville Lodge No. 867, Loyal Order of Moose who presented him with the highest honor of the fraternity, The Pilgrim Degree of Merit in May of 2010.
He is survived by his loving wife Nancy Ann Rector Ward, his mother Elizabeth, and sons Thomas E. (Leslie) Ward, and Steven R. II (Brittany) Ward, three grandsons Chance Evan, Jacob Mathew and Corbin James Ward all of Zanesville. He loved his family and really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Linda (Dr. Donald) Twiggs of Callahan, FL, his brother Mike (Mary Beth) Ward of Zanesville, his brother-in-law Mike (Stella) Rector of Ocklawaha, FL, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, his mother and father-in-law Georgia Lee and Charles E. Rector, his cousins Scott Archer and Robert Hannah, grandparents Richard Ward, Ida M. and Caroline Ward and Albert and Carrie Stump and several Aunts and Uncles.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. Masonic Services will be held at 7pm and Pilgrim Moose Lodge services at 7:30pm on Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday April 17, 2015 in the Snouffer Chapel with Rev. Chuck Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Williams Cemetery.
