Harvey E. “Red” Owens (November 21, 1932 – April 22, 2015)

Harvey “Red†E. Owens 82 of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Zanesville, passed away peacefully Wednesday April 22, 2015 after a prolonged illness. He was born November 21, 1932 in Zanesville, a son of the late Harvey Sr. and Hattie Smith Owens. He retired after 43 years of service at Burnham Boiler; served his country and protected our freedoms in the United States Army, and was an active part of First Church of the Nazarene in Zanesville.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Patricia Mendenhall Owens; two children, Randall (Judy) Owens of Saginaw, MI and Crystal (Mark) Tuel of Mt. Vernon, OH; one brother Jim (Judy) Owens of Johnsburg, IL; one sister Deloris Gibbs of Hartford, WV; two grandchildren Jamie (Ryan) Wright and Nathan (Hope) Owens; four great grandchildren Toby, Huckleberry, Forest and Peter. Red was a man of God, who loved his family and was a father figure to many nieces, nephews and friends. He was an avid OSU Buckeye and Cleveland Indian’s fan and loved children.
Calling hours will be held 5-8 on Friday April 24, 2015 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm on Saturday April 25, 2015 in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Steve Dupler officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Union Cemetery.
