Charles Bates Jr. (May 22, 1936 – February 16, 2016)

Charles “Charlie Boy” Bates Jr., 79 of Zanesville died at 4:12 AM Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Genesis Hospice & Palliative Care .
He was born on May 22, 1936 in Zanesville the son of Charles Homer Bates Sr. and Katerina (Sauerwein) Bates.
Charles was a United States Marine Veteran and met his wife, Mitsue while he was stationed in Japan. He was a union pipefitter with local #495, Cambridge Ohio and was also a lifetime member of the Blue Front Café patrons.
He is survived by his children, Patricia Bates of Zanesville, Michael (Rebecca) Bates of Columbus, and Tina (Steve) Stanton of Nashport; grandchildren, Kiyomi, Thomas, Tasha Stump, Michael, Mark Bates and several great grandchildren; a sister, “Lil†Meluch and a brother, Bob Bates both of Zanesville.
Charles was preceded in death In addition to his parents by his wife, Mitsue (Sugiyama) Bates, and three sisters, Charlotte, Betty & Hilda.
Public graveside funeral service with Military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating. .
