Janet Ellen Hammer, 68 of Zanesville passed away peacefully at her home at 1:47 PM Saturday March 12, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 25, 1947 in McConnelsville, the daughter of Herman and Vera (Dennis) Smith. A wife of 47 years, mother, grandmother to eight grandchildren. She was a nurse for 47 years at Good Samaritan Hospital and the last ten years at OSU Medical Center. Janet had her Master’s Degree in nursing and taught nursing at OUZ/
She is survived by her husband of 47 years David L. Hammer. Three children Heidi (Mike)Hardbarger, Chad Hammer, and Holly Hammer. Eight grandchildren. All girls; Cassidy, Caylen, Callie, Kierston, Kylee, Kyndall, Gabbi, and Maddi.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; Herman and Vera Smith. Brother; Tom Smith and sister; Brenda Smith. Her grandparents George Otto Dennis and Mamie Dennis.
Friends and Family may call from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday March 15, 2016 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 West Military Road. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday March 16, 2016 in the Snouffer Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain William Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
