Rose Vivian Fitz, 87 of Zanesville passed away peacefully on Friday March 11, 2016 at the Oaks at North Pointe. She was born in Philo, Ohio on August 5, 1928 a daughter of the late Clarence and Emma Seyerle Fitz.
Rose is survived by one sister Ruth Harris of Madison, IN; sister-in-law Dottie Fitz of Madison, IN; nieces and nephews Don (Karen) Good, Karen Wilson, Gail (Suzy) Good, Kris (Danny) Searls, John (Lynn) Fitz, Pat (Sherrie) Harris and Trudy (Jerry) Land; several great and great great nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Norma (Orville) Good, Gladys (Albert) Sheppard, Dorothy (John R) McDermott, Russ (Marguerite) Fitz, Kenny Fitz and Clarence “Bud” (Joanie) Fitz.
Rose grew up in Philo and after graduation started to work in 1946 in the Laboratory and Radiology department at Bethesda Hospital “on the hill”. Later she became the director of the Radiology Department retiring in 1995 after 50 years of service, having dedicated her life to her career and the betterment of healthcare. She was very active in the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologist for years serving on many committees, offices and President as well. Rose was also affiliated with National organizations and took great pride in maintaining lifelong friendships with her colleagues. Throughout her life she was devoted to many local charities and fundraisers and received recognition for much of her work. In 1994 Rose was proud to have been the recipient of the Women of Achievement – Josephine Phillips Health Care Award.
Being from a strong Christian family, Rose also dedicated her life to her faith. She was a very active member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Philo taking part in Choir, Church Council and special church events. A favorite past time was traveling extensively throughout the years. Beach vacations seemed to be her ultimate destinations. As well as travel she shared her talent of gourmet cooking with extravagant parties at her home or a delightful meal at a specific destination.
Her ultimate passion was her love for her multi- generational family. She served as a caregiver for all, and will be forever remembered by her family and friends.
Family and friends are welcome to come to a Celebration of Life from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Tuesday March 15, 2016 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 West Military Road Zanesville, Ohio 43701. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00PM in The Snouffer Chapel. Burial will be held at a later date in The Duncan Falls Cemetery.
