Local Subway Franchises Sold

Local Subway franchises have a new owner.

Randy Murgittroyd sold his stores, located in Zanesville, Dresden, and Duncan Falls, to three area men back in February after receiving an offer he couldn’t refuse.

"We kind of battled back and forth. Do we do it or don’t we do it? Because there’s a lot of emotional ties. That’s all we were known by is Subway. So, it was kind of an identity crisis for us too, " says Murgittroyd.

Murgittroyd says the reason he bought these franchises was because he believed in the product and knew it was good, and he says he will miss being a part of them.

"When we first started at Subway, we had people coming in that had health issues, heart disease. We saw them coming in for the first time, and we were able to give them a healthy alternative," says Murgittroyd.

What does the future hold for Murgittroyd? He says he plans on helping prepare for his son’s wedding, but he says don’t rule him out for future restaurant franchises.  Murgittroyd also wanted to thank all the customers he was able to serve the past 15 years.
