Off to the Races in Zanesville

Ready, Set, Go! It’s a race to the finish between kids and adults in the Pinewood Derby League Championship.
Racers gathered Saturday at the Sunrise Shopping Center, in Zanesville, and compete in their choiceof eight different classes, based on the specifications of their cars. Steve Redrup started racing as a Boy Scout with his father, and now shares his passion of racing with his son.
"It brings back joyful memories of spending time with my father, and I’m hoping when my son gets older, he’ll look back and remember the times that we had building these cars and just the enjoyment of doing something together." said Redrup.
Redrup’s son, Steven is a member of Boy Scout Troop 158 in Zanesville, and said that along with spending time with his Dad, building and racing cars gives him a practical understanding of the subjects he studies in school.
"There’s a lot of mathematics, a lot of educational purposes in this sport. you learn weight placement, gravity, a lot of physics, Just a lot of fun in it," said Steven.
You do not need to be involved in scouting to race with the league.
