Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery available in Zanesville

The world of plastic and reconstructive surgery is becoming less invasive and more available than ever before.

Dr. Dexter Blome of Cosmetic Surgery Center of Ohio is located both in Zanesville and Columbus. Blome spoke with Zanesville Noon Rotary on the growth of reconstructive surgery- specifically the process of fat transfers- able to volumize a body defect as well as rejuvenate tissues.

"We put in a metal instrument, it’s like a straw, it cuts the fat and sucks it out then you process that," said Blome."You can reinject it back into build-up body defect. That is what is on the horizon today, it’s just kind of in it’s primitive times."

Blome said 20 years ago a small community like Zanesville may not have had as much interests in reconstructive surgery as a more cosmopolitan area like Columbus would, but today he sees all types and ages.

"Because of the added safety, and the time factor can heal better today, with better outcomes, hence it has really opened it up and a lot of the procedures and really reasonable," said Blome. "One-third of our patients make less than $45,000 a year."
