Full Court Press: Zanesville and Rosecrans win ECOL Divisions in Different Ways

High School Basketball:
Dover 56 Zanesville 54 OT
The Blue Devils record their second league loss this season against the Tornadoes. Zanesville found out before the game that they would be without senior captain Christian Myers, sitting out with an ankle injury he suffered on Tuesday night against River View. Losing Myers didn’t help, and neither did shooting 36 percent on two point field goals. Despite having a rough night, Zanesville still had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, but Brendon Bouterse missed a shot right off the front of the rim with .4 of a second remaining.
Dover was paced by Mason Mamarella who had 24 points, while Derik Swinderman had 14. Jake Phillis led all scorers with 31 points, his highest scoring output as a Blue Devil. Kade Haddox chipped in with a hard-earned 16 points as well. A win would have clinched the ECOL Scarlet Division title outright, but, by virtue of the New Philadelphia loss to Cambridge, the Blue Devils clinch with the loss anyway. Zanesville embarks on their final road contest of the season tomorrow night against DeSales.
