New Exhibit at Zanesville Museum of Art
This weekend, the Zanesville Museum of Art unveiled a new exhibit by a local artist.
Michael Seiler’s, "Speaking to Spirit" exhibit opened Saturday.
The artwork on display was painted using asphalt, and alkyds, which Seiler said are two mediums that mix differently, which give his paintings a deeper meaning.
"Asphalt is labile, or it’s subject to change, usually when you least expect it. It’s like a chemical reaction," said Seiler.
"Life is labile, life is subject to change, and when you least expect it," he added.
Next to each of Seiler’s paintings you can find poetry written by his wife, Kathleen.
Seiler said his wife doesn’t write his paintings, nor does he paint her poems.
"We literally get together, I pull some of her poems, she comes to the studio, and she looks at the paintings, and she pulls some of her poems and them we go to the studio, and we lay them down on the floor, and we argue about it, in a good way," explained Seiler.
The exhibit runs from now until April 7th on the 3rd floor of the museum.
