Fake Deputy Stop Investigated

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz is issuing an alert…someone is impersonating a Deputy Sheriff. Lutz says on Friday night around 10:15 a young female was stopped by a male on Valley Road off of State Route 93 just south of Adamsville. The suspect was driving an older black Ford Crown Victoria type vehicle with red and blue lights on the dash. Sheriff Lutz says the white male suspect was 6’2”, around 190 pounds with brown hair and clean shaven. He had a muscular build and was in his 30’s. He also wore black shirt, black pants and had a dull looking badge that had Deputy Sheriff on it. He asked for woman’s driver’s license and took it back to his vehicle. Lutz says when the suspect came back to the car, another vehicle passed by and he abruptly ended the encounter, gave the license back to the victim and left the scene. The Sheriff says if you are ever pulled over by what appears to be an unmarked cruiser you should immediately call
9-1-1.
