Updates Soon To Be Made At The Juvenile Detention Center

The Muskingum County Juvenile Detention Center makes final plans for updating their facility.
Superintendent, Allen Bennett, met with the county commissioners this morning to finalize plans regarding the grant money that is expected to come in sometime this month. Bennett says once the grant money is available, they’ll start updating right away.
“We received a grant basically it’s $10,000 from the federal government administered through the state. The commissioners provided a $5,000 match, so in total we have $15,000 to spend.”
Much of the grant money will be used to update old equipment that is no longer compatible with other equipment at the detention center.
“Basically what the grant is for is, for equipment of the juvenile detention center. Some of the things that we’re intending on buying, a new DVR digital recording device for our cameras throughout the facility so we can record what goes on, new shower doors, some computers, some radio’s. Just some things that needed updated and upgraded.
Bennet says he hopes to have all the updates completed by the end of February.
