Burris Faces Death Penalty in Pizza Murder Case

A Cambridge man accused of killing a pizza delivery driver entered a guilty plea this week in Guernsey County Common Pleas Court. 33-year-old Adam Burris was charged with aggravated murder, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, attempted rape and theft of a motor vehicle in connection with the death of 26-year-old Kayla Thompson. Authorities say Thompson did not return from a delivery to Burris’ Cambridge home the day after Christmas in 2013. Burris was taken into custody and led authorities to Thompson’s body near a boat ramp at Dillon State Park in Muskingum County. Burris’s trial had been scheduled to start on February 3rd. Now a three judge panel will determine it Burris should get the death penalty or another sentence.
