Two Car Accident In Downtown Zanesville

Failure to yield to a red light left one car on its side in Zanesville Wednesday evening.

The call for the wreck came just after 5PM. Officer Derek Shilling of the Zanesville Police Department says a red Kia, occupied by one, was traveling westbound on Market Street near 6th Street. A tan Buick occupied by two was headed northbound on 6th Street in the left lane when it entered the intersection and struck by the Kia which ran the red light. The Kia then flipped onto its side. One female passenger in the Buick complained of injuries but appeared to be ok. A citation was issued for failure to obey traffic controlled lights. Shilling says the intersection of 6th Street and Market was closed for a short time. Zanesville Police and Fire Departments and Genesis Community ambulance responded to the scene.
