ODNR: Morgan County Dam Stabilized

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Friday issued an update on an erosion problem at the McConnelsville-Malta Dam. Public Information Officer Matt Eiselstein says the dam has been stabilized at this time and Morgan County Road 2 has been reopened. He says O-D-N-R staff will continue to monitor the dam multiple times each day to confirm the structure remains sound. Eiselstein says the river water is quite high at this point and a more permanent repair will be sought once the water level drops. Last night the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office announced that the erosion problem had developed and that O-D-N-R and a private contractor were working to shore up the bank at the dam.
