A Cure for Cabin Fever?

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Current winter weather necessitates the need to stay indoors and intensifies the widespread phenomenon known as cabin fever.

Muskingum County Library System Marketing and Community Relations Director Sean Fennell shared options that people can utilize to better cope with their seasonal confinement.

“So today, I just want to let everybody know that the Muskingum County Library System is open and we have a lot of options for people right now with all of this cooler and slippier weather that we’ve got going on right now. So with all of this cold temperatures and the bad weather, we have a lot of services like our curbside that we have available at every single one of our locations, including the John McIntire Library. You can just drive up, dial in and we will take your hold items out to you,” Fennell said.

Fennell noted that even though the McIntire Library is curbside only, all the branch libraries are still able to provide a warm, inviting alternative from staying cooped up at home. But if staying home is your thing, then the library has digital options that may be just for you.

“Of course if you’re not wanting to really brave the weather or you want to stay nice and cozy at home but you need something to read or listen to or watch, please make sure that you check out all of our digital services as well. So we have Libby and Hoopla. These are really wonderful services where you can download free e-books, free audio books and movies or TV shows. So I really encourage everybody to use your library card during this time,” Fennell said.

The digital options can be accessed at muskingumlibrary.org and have instructions on how you can make them work. For any questions you may have about any of the digital options, you can call (740) 453-0391 Ext. 150.
