“A Day Spent Remembering Greg Williams” Held at Roseville Recreation Center

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A former and beloved Crooksville football coach, Greg Williams, who passed away in 2020 was remembered today in Roseville.
Members of his committee held a fundraiser event at the Roseville Recreation Center called “A Day Spent Remembering Greg Williams.”
The money raised from the event will go towards the funds of the scholarship which was established by his three daughters, who attended Crooksville.
“We’re going to give out two scholarships. One will qualify for a graduating senior from Crooksville. Of course they have to meet certain criteria’s and we have that on the application. Then the other one is going to go to an MVL softball player just because my dad did impact the MVL in so many ways,” Alanah Williams, one of the daughters of Greg Williams said. “He coached in so many different schools and he’s helped a lot of coaches, he’s built a lot of connections with different coaches and athletic directors so we want to give back to all those people that supported us during this time.”
Head softball coach at Crooksville, Casey Vallee, talked more about Greg Williams’s impact on the Crooksville community.
“Greg was a ceramic. He was the guy that everybody loved and he coached numerous sports. Him and I were together for football, we were together for softball and he coached amazing people. Not just here, but other schools at Sheridan, at New Lex in his young career but he touched a lot of people to the point that they’ve turned out to be coaches as well for students that moved on. He was a math teacher, a computer teacher, and amazing things he did,” Vallee said.
There celebration included, food, drinks and bracelets for sale. There was also a Chinese auction and live auction, TV raffles and a performance from Lock 17’s Mike Evans.
Alanah Williams gave a thank you to those who have supported them through this tough time.
She said the event wouldn’t be possible without the help of so many communities.
