NASHPORT, Ohio – The Malouf Foundation out of Frazeysburg, will be having a golf tournament in September to raise funds to build a Children’s Advocacy Center in Muskingum County.

The tournament will be played at the Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, and 100 percent of the money raised will go towards the new Advocacy Center. Muskingum County Assistant Prosecutor, Ron Welch said this plan has been discussed for 14 years, and it is time to bring this building to Muskingum County.

“The purpose of establishing the center, would be to assist children who have been victims of abuse both physical and sexual abuse. Currently, the closest facility that we utilize is in Franklin, County. While they do a wonderful job, not having local services here puts a real strain on families who are not only trying to get the medical needs that the child has met, but also to have the follow up and the psychological and mental healthcare that the child will need after they have been victimized,” said Welch.

Malouf Warehouse Manager, Braden Brown said the organization wants to do good for the community. The Malouf Company and the Foundation donate mattresses and sleep products to local domestic violence shelters.

“Like Ron Welch said, they have had this idea 14 years ago to start up a child advocacy center. When we got here, we found them and asked what we could do to help. They have been long in the process of making this a reality and we are trying to provide the funds needed to make it a reality here in the county,” Brown added.
