A new Recycling Process in Muskingum County

Southeastern Ohio Joint Solid Waste Management is attempting to get a new compactor to deal with the amount of waste being generated around Muskingum County.

To do this Rob Reiter, the District Coordinator met with the Muskingum County Commissioners this afternoon. By getting a new compactor Reiter hopes to streamline the process of dealing with the waste that comes in.

"It will allow us to take that material, the other material and fit the compactor into a transfer trailer," Reiter said. "It will allow us to handle it more quickly, more efficiently, less moves, less man power and just hopefully cut the cost of operation."

While Reiter was not certain on the amount of funding that he will need from the county or the EPA he was excited about the cost to benefit ratio.

"Astronomical, astronomical," Reiter exclaimed. "It’s more and it’s more a matter of efficiency being able to manage what we take in everyday and not leave anything on the table at the end of the day."

Adding the compactor to the operation will make the process more mechanical and limit the amount of people needed.
