A Touch of Africa for Zanesville
Members of one Zanesville church were treated to a "Touch of Africa" Saturday.
The Hillside Church on South State Street hosted the event as an event to correlate with Black History Month.
A New York Native, first elder Rosalind Beswick hoped that the Y-Bridge City can experience the sounds of Africa.
"I’ve been here now 10 or 11 years, and I haven’t seen that mix of multicultural here, so I figured it would be something different, and that the people will come and enjoy the sounds," said Beswick.
The event featured songs from the Columbus Multicultural African Choir, an African quartet, and other Africans who spoke of their roots.
Beswick said bringing an understanding of wholeness to the city is important to her.
"All of us are the same, but we just come from different cultures, and that we call can blend as one, and that’s what I’m hoping for here in Zanesville," added Beswick.
Beswick is planning future events including a multicultural concert in May.
