“The event is the Tribute To Fatherhood,” Sheppard said. “It’s our opportunity as an organization to honor our donors and our volunteers and the people who have successfully completed our program, Forever Dads. The event, it’s a wonderful celebration. The highlight of the night is the induction of five men into what we call our Legacy of Fatherhood. It’s like a fatherhood hall of fame.”
The event is sold out but will be live streamed on the WHIZ Facebook page. This year’s nominees are Mike Morris, William Briggs, Roger Kreis, Terry Martin and Dr. Richard Tuck. Forever Dads Committee Member Tom Holdren shared his experience of being selected as a Previous Legacy Of Fatherhood Honoree.
“Well, it’s just the biggest honor I’ve ever had in my life,” Holdren said. “It made it special for me because my father-in-law had it a few years before, Bill Straker, who has now passed, and to follow in his footsteps and stand up there in front of all those folks and be recognized and have all those wonderful things said about me was very touching and humbling.”
