Absentee Ballot Confusion

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – November elections are right around the corner the Muskingum County Board of Elections wants to clear up some confusion.

Director Timothy Thompson said voters may have received multiple absentee ballot applications in the mail, but that they only need to fill out and send back one.

“A voter only needs to mail in one of those applications for us, and don’t send in duplicate applications,” said Thompson. “You know if a voter’s already sent in an application they don’t need to send in another one.”

Thompson said voters are able to track their applications and ballots online under their Absentee Ballots link. He also wants to remind voters that the deadline to register is October 9th.

“And we don’t want people to re-register,” said Thompson. “Do not re-register. We just want to make sure your name and address are up to date or if you’re a new voter come in and register for sure.”

Thompson said the office will be open until 9 p.m. on October 9th for anyone who needs to register or update information. He said registration forms along with absentee ballot applications can also be found on their website.
