Accident Under Investigation

A Tuesday afternoon injury accident in Newark remains under investigation. 

Newark Police reported that a vehicle driven by Jonathan Grigsby of Newark, was stopped at the light on East Main Street at North Cedar Street when his vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Steven Short, also of Newark. 

Short’s vehicle then struck a pole on the southwest side of the intersection. This caused Grigsby’s vehicle to slide sideways facing southbound while continuing east and struck a utility pole. 

Newark Fire Department extracted the occupants from the vehicles. 

Newark Police said that one adult driver of the crash is being treated at OSU Medical Center. A juvenile passenger in the vehicle is being treated at Licking Memorial Hospital for non life threatening injuries. 

No other information is being released at this time.
