Addisyn’s Mile 5k Walk

Locals laced up their running shoes to participate in 5K walk that benefits a little girl battling leukemia.
More than 100 people showed up at Zane’s Landing Park on Sunday to support 2-year-old Addyisn Tilton, visitor’s bought t-shirts, entered bids in a silent auction and donated money and diapers to help the Tiltons with their accumulating medical expenses.
"I’m overwhelmed at one point I just kind of wanted to cry," said Addisyn’s Grandmother, Lora Tilton. I stood back, I was watching and you just want to cry because they don’t know us, it was just their heart that made them come out and do this for my son, my daughter- in- law and my granddaughter. "
Seeing the large amount of family and community support for Addisyn inspired Tilton to create the Grandma’s Heart Foundation to help other people in similar situations.
"It’s a non profit organization to help other families and children who have been diagnosed with a devastating illness, it’s mostly just to help through the initial crisis time, " said Tilton.
Tilton hopes to provide necessities to these families such as hand sanitizer, diapers, toys and cleaning supplies. If you would like to donate to Addisyn or the Grandma’s Heart Foundation you can contact a family member for more information at addisynsmile@hotmail.com or visit Addisyn’s Mile on Facebook.
