American Electric Power says it is making progress in restoring power to customers in Muskingum County. A-E-P says there are still about 540 customers without service. Officials says everyone should be back online at 4:30 p.m. It all started around 1 a.m. after crews discovered a malfunctioning transformer sub-station off of Linden Avenue and were forced to shut it down.
5,000 customers were left without power at one time. A mobile transformer is being installed as a temporary fix to get customers back on line quicker.
