Agnes C. Smith
Agnes C. Smith, 92 of Ashville, NC, formerly of Zanesville, died 11:45 PM, Sunday, March 19, 2023 at CarePartners in Asheville, NC. She was born Saturday, September 27, 1930, in Columbus, the daughter of Edmund Izzo and Mary (Weisenburger) Izzo. She married Ralph G. Smith on Saturday, June 20, 1953, and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Agnes was a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family. She was an avid card player, especially euchre and enjoyed playing dominos. She was a loving and adoring wife, mother and grandmother great grandmother who loved spending time with her family.
Agnes is survived by five children, Paul (Lisa Davy) Smith of California, Douglas (Kirsten) Smith of North Carolina, Christine (Thomas) Kenney of Ohio, Philip Smith of South Carolina, and Denise (Brent) Williams of Michigan; five grandchildren, Heather (John) Kennedy of Arziona, Daniel Kenney of Ohio, Laurel Smith and Andrew Smith both of North Carolina and Jonathan Williams of Michigan; one great grandson, Chaiston Kennedy; three siblings, Joe (Zita) Izzo of Wyoming, Jean Izzo of Ohio and John Izzo of Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Smith who died September 5, 2006; one brother, Charles Izzo and one sister, Mary Rubadue.
Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, March 24, 2023, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where a Christian Vigil will be held with the Rosary being recited at 7:45 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 25, 2023, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 935 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Fr. Jan C.P. Sullivan as Celebrant. Agnes will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Mount Olive Cemetery.
