Airshow is a Take-Off

If you were driving along Maple Avenue earlier Saturday you may have been shocked to see a parade of airplanes.

The airplanes were on their way to the 3rd annual air show put on by Home Depots Lead Generator Frank Berlo. Berlo has been partnering with the Y-City Flying Service since the beginning.

"We had a car show here and then I heard talk about many, many years ago another place in town had some planes that came to their grand-opening," said Berlo. "So I contacted the people and it’s just been a success story from then on."

Saturday’s event featured 10 full-sized private airplanes, giving kids a chance to see what it’s like to sit in the drivers seat. For Zanesville Resident Christopher Glaspell the childhood dream of being a pilot seemed unreachable. It wasn’t until just 3 years ago Glaspell met an instructor of the Y-City Flying Service at a similar event and took the first and final steps to receiving his Airman’s Certificate. Now Glaspell proudly showed-off his first purchased plane.

"It’s just a passion of being free," said Glaspell. "I mean once you get up there you have no limits basically. It’s really fun, just getting up there flying along getting where you want to go."
