Alice Grey

Alice Kay (Shaeffer) Grey
Oct. 19, 1940 – Aug. 16, 2025
Alice Kay Grey, born October 19th, 1940, passed away in her sleep at her home in Lancaster, Ohio. This was the home she shared with her devoted husband of 60 years, John William “Jack” Grey. She was able to stay in her own home until the end because of the loving care she received from the home health aides of Home Helpers of Lancaster and Honor Home Care of Circleville.
Alice enjoyed going to church, being a homemaker, singing karaoke at the Senior Center in Zanesville, and watching old movies. She was a long-standing member of St Paul Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. She and Jack sang karaoke every Friday night in Zanesville, and these were some of the happiest times of her life.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Lucy Wolfe Shaeffer, her husband John “Jack” Grey, brothers Herbert “Junior” and Paul, and sisters Forest Mills, Ruth Fauley, Edna Ayers Burgess, and Gladys Householder.
Alice is survived by daughter Kathryn Grey Flynn of Carroll, daughter Nancy Lambert (John) of Carroll, three grandchildren Nicole Disbennett (Jesse) of Lancaster, Mitchell Lambert of Cincinnati, and Jessica Lambert of Carroll. She also leaves behind two great grandchildren Finn and Elayna and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Thursday August 21st from 9:30am to 11:00am with the service at 11:00am at the Roberts Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill St. New Lexington, Ohio. There will be a short graveside service following at the New Lexington Cemetery officiated by Pastor Vicky Coombs.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or your local food pantry.
