Alice Hill

Alice Ann Hill, born March 2, 1935, passed away peacefully on May 2, 10:42pm at Morrison House, following a wonderful month of daily family visits at The Oaks. She was the daughter of Lucie Laverne and Charles Gard, growing up on a farm with siblings Chuck, Don Dale, Janice, and Marla, cherishing those early memories. On June 22, 1953, she married Jack Hill, and together they raised three children: Larry Dean Hill (Kathleen), Mitzi Shook (Jay), and Allison Weeks (Tom). Her grandchildren are Bob Jack Hill, Courtney Mayes, Matthew Hill, Zachary Hill, Alyssa Dole, Wesley Shook, Abbie Stair, Alexander Weeks, and Ashley Weeks; step-grandchildren, Zach and Josh Weeks; great-grandchildren, Madison Mayes, Kolbe Mayes, Shepherd Stair, and Mitchell Stair; her sister, Marla; and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Lori. Alice could do anything she set her mind to—whether swapping out a gas tank or painting a whole house in a day. She adored her flowers, gardening, and had catchphrases the family will fondly remember. Her zest for life—whether traveling, square dancing, or taking on projects—was infectious, and she passed that joy to her family.
Alice was known as a warm-hearted soul but her family and closest connections will tell you her feisty side was legendary. She met every challenge in life with an optimistic attitude. Her vibrant laugh enveloped a room like a big hug and her delight in the mere act of being was a magnet that drew people to her.
She was at peace with her passing and said she was ready to get on the train and go to her next stop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hill; daughter, Mitzi Shook; parents, Lucie Laverne and Charles; brothers, Chuck and Don Dale; and sister, Janice. The family will not hold calling hours, but will announce a celebration of life at a later date.
A cremation will take place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, AT OUR LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED CREMATORY.
