Alice Kronenbitter turns 101

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – WHIZ wants to wish a special happy birthday to Alice Kronenbitter who turned 101 on Thursday.

Kronenbitter now lives in Brookdale Senior Living Center in Zanesville and celebrated 101 years of life with friends and family, some of which flew in from as far as Colorado. Her birthday also served to bring family together for the first time in a while.

“This is like a family reunion,” said Linda Larrick, Kronenbitter’s niece. “As fast as life is and everybody’s fast paced and we don’t have get-togethers, like reunions anymore. You know even with your own family one goes that way, one goes that way and it’s hard to get everybody together.”

Sarah Vincenzo, executive director 2 at the Brookdale Senior Living Center says that the Brookdale community is just as excited for Kronenbitter as her family and friends.

“Well, it’s very exciting because it really gives you the inspiration of seeing a 101-year old thriving. She walks approximately six, seven miles a day and she’s very social, she loves hugs, her family cocoons her and surrounds her with all kinds of love,” Vincenzo said. “But just to see a resident come into our community and a loving family that also joins our family on a daily basis, it just gives this feeling of inspiration for life.”
