Allison Named Artist of the Month at the ZAAP Gallery
ZANESVILLE, OH – Connor Allison has been named the ZAAP Gallery Artist of the Month.
He is a 21-year-old artist who has been creating fantasy works since he was child. Allison said he’s still finding his way through the art world by experimenting with new mediums like oil paints.
He said his dad is the one who first introduced him to the world of dark fantasy creatures and art.
“My dad enjoyed a whole bunch of those sort of books,” Allison explained. “ And I was influenced by him and that genre I think quite heavily.”
Allison said he enjoys this art style because there’s no worry of making mistakes or messing up. He said he also enjoys being able to blend all of his interests into one piece of art.
Allison gave some advice to new artists who might be afraid to put their work out there.
“I think that, to any new artist, regardless of what you want to do, it is 10% talent and 90% is passion,” Allison said. “And I think that there’s a lot of people who are gifted, who don’t pursue anything and therefore aren’t really good, but I think for a lot of people they just need to keep going, just keep doing it.”
Allison’s works will be on display at the Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project Gallery during the First Friday Art Walk from 5 to 9PM.
The ZAAP Gallery is located at 625 Main St. in downtown Zanesville.
