Alpaca Your Bags: Farm Tours Return for The Summer

ZANESVILLE, OH – In the rolling hills of Muskingum County, a seasonal tradition is making its return. Farm tours are back at The Alpaca’s of Spring Acres!

The family-run farm opens its doors each summer, giving visitors a hands-on look at life with alpacas.

“We go to the four different barns. We learn about their care, and we always meet different alpacas. Sometimes they’re in a really friendly mood and we can get our hands on them, and sometimes they want a little bit of space.” Chief Marketing Officer, Lindsay Warne said.

Guests are guided through the grounds, introduced to the herd, and have the opportunity to learn about these captivating creatures.

“We answer tons of questions and talk to them about how the alpacas are cared for every day. Alpacas are from South America, from Peru, Bolivia, and Chile. If people are interested, I can tell them about what their life is like there and how they were domesticated. But some people don’t care about that. Some people want to know how much they weigh when they’re born. Anything people want to know, I’m happy to share it.” Warne said.

The farm holds over 80 alpacas and houses 2 guard llamas. Although, while alpacas may look like llamas, the two are different breeds with their own characteristics. The tours also highlight the farm’s fiber production, from shearing to spinning, showing how alpaca fleece becomes soft, wearable goods sold on site. Whether you’re at the alpacas of spring acres to learn, shop, or just enjoy a walk through the farm, the tours are designed to be fun, educational, and open to all ages.

“You will always have fun, you will always learn, and you’ll always fall in love with alpacas.” Warne said.
