Amanda L. Hitchcock

Amanda L. Hitchcock, 55, of Zanesville, Ohio, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in the early morning of January 14th, 2022.

Born February 23, 1966 in Gallipolis, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Willard Fred and Barbara Jo (Nichols) Frost.  After making her mark at Ridgewood High School, where she was a 1984 graduate, she traveled the world and found her place in Naha, Japan where she spent five years teaching English.  Following her time in Japan, Amanda attended Ohio University Zanesville and received her Bachelor’s degree in education.  She spent over ten years with Zanesville City Schools, helping to shape the minds of the future.  Later Amanda obtained a Master’s degree in Psychology and Social Change from Walden University and a second Master’s degree in Communications from Kent State.  Never content with “as is”, she was a lifelong learner, always continuing her personal development.

Amanda was the life of the party, she owned the dance floor, and she knew how to pick out the perfect gift for all those she loved.  She was an ordained minister, a master of meditation, and a real estate guru!  Currently she was a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Professional Realty and was a member of the National Association of Realtors; Ohio Realtors and Guernsey Muskingum Valley Association of Realtors.  Amanda was also a member of Zanesville Business and Professional Women’s Club.  She made a tremendous impact on the community by giving, supporting, caring, and contributing, while always wearing the most fabulous outfit.  She left a lasting impression on everyone she knew.  Her husband and life partner, Dennis, will forever be a constant reminder of the love, joy, and compassion she embodied all the days of her life.

Surviving is her loving husband Dennis W. Hitchcock whom she married June 6, 2006; her children, Breanna (Brent) Karaba, Keaton (Chelsea) Williams, Jordan Carroll, Ethan Shatz, Jayme, Lindsey, and Stephaney Hitchcock and her eleven grandchildren, Gabriel, Kylah, Olivia, Sebastian, Lizzy, Cameron, Karter, Killian, Amelia, Gwendolyn, and Bryce.  Also surviving is her half-sister, Melinda Medrick, her half-brother, Paul (Patricia) Mullins, two nieces, Nicky Mullins and Jamie Sherer and a nephew, Barry Sherer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Diana Sherer.

A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2022.  The time and location will be posted at a later date.
