Ambitious Take On Frankenstein At Zanesville Community Theatre

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Written stories are often interpreted differently amongst their readers and such is the case with the story of Frankenstein.

The Zanesville Community Theater will be performing a PG-13 stage adaptation of the gothic novel that was written by Mary Shelley back in 1818.

“There’s a big Broadway production of the show, around 2011 is when the original Broadway production of the show was. And now we’re using the same scripts and we’re bringing it to Zanesville Community Theater.” “It is tense, it is… it’s very engaging. I will also say this, the set design, you know our director, our amazing director Reagan, she has put a very, very ambitious Frankenstein out on the Zanesville Community Theater stage,” Zanesville Community Theater Assistant Director Daegan Lusk said.

The production will begin this weekend with performances at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday along with a matinee at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The following weekend will keep the same schedule but with an additional evening performance on Sunday the 18th.

“The last matinee on January 18th, we’re doing a page-to-stage discussion after the show. So if you’ve read the book, if you haven’t read the book that’s fine, you can ask us questions and we can have like a wonderful discussion. We’ve done this before and a lot of people come and they ask very wonderful questions and it makes us really think like, oh like this is what you thought about it, this is how like we thought about it actually performing. So we would love people to come and partake and we also have an evening show. So we have double shows, just on that last day,” Zanesville Community Theater Performer Autumn Wheeler said.

January is the time of year when many are bored and have a little extra free time to explore new experiences and gain new appreciations. The Zanesville Community theater is located at 940 Findley Avenue and tickets can be purchased at ZCT.org.
