An Akron Attorney Speaks at the Bethel Community Center

An Akron attorney shares how growing up with struggles helped shape him into the successful person he is today.
Edward Gilbert faced a different and difficult childhood here in Zanesville. Growing up in foster care, Gilbert attended Zanesville High School, where he tells us he had some of the best teachers and said his key to success is education.
“The Bethel Community Center asked me to come out and speak with some of the children and some of the volunteers to encourage them to keep at their studies and keep at their life goal. Some of them are in a poor situation, their in a situation that’s very difficult and I’ve been there,” said Gilbert.
Gilbert said the purpose of him sharing his story today is to inspire children, volunteers and foster parents to not give up and to give each other a chance.
“My overall goal is to encourage. To encourage the children and to suggest that they take help when they need help and to keep at it. Don’t get discouraged, it’s a tough life there’s going to be challenges all the way through but, you have to get moving with it.”
Gilbert said if he could offer any advice it would be to continue to further your education, stay away from negativity and never give up on your goals in life.
