Animal Shelter Board on Murray Resignation

Animal Shelter 3

The Animal Shelter Society Thursday issued a statement on the resignation of Executive Director Jody Murray. Board President Stephanie Hill says “it’s disheartening to the board that Mr. Murray chose to leave without giving notice.”
Murray today talked more about his decision to resign. He says the Executive Committee of the Shelter was going in a different direction than the shelter Board of Directors. In fact Murray said some shelter bylaws are not being followed and he felt the need to take a drastic step. He say it’s a resignation under duress…he did not want it to happen this way. But there was a dramatic change in how he was being treated and he felt he was going to be fired so decided to leave on his own terms. He added that his resignation was immediately accepted with no questions asked. He added that several shelter board members have already resigned and that he feels the board is being run by just a few people.
Murray says it is too bad that some people feel that playing politics is more important than taking care of the animals,
Hill says effective immediately Russell Denny is appointed to the role of Interim Executive Director to ensure that daily operations will run smoothly and effectively. The Animal Shelter Society has been in operation since 1959 and is located at 1430 Newark Road in Zanesville.
