The Animal Shelter Society fundraiser at Downtown Tattoo

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Animal Shelter Society is having a fundraiser at Downtown Tattoo Saturday, September 29th and they kicked it off by tattooing one of their own.

Downtown Tattoo wanted to do something for the animal shelter, so for every tattoo they give, 100% of the proceeds will go back to the shelter. Executive Director, Jody Murray and Assistant Director, Russell Denny came up with the idea to post a status on their Facebook saying if they receive 100 likes, Murray would pay for Denny to be the first customer of the fundraiser.

“I would pay $100 for his first tattoo and the first tattoo of the event, so he’s actually here this morning getting his tattoo,” said Murray. “So $100 well spent for me and it’s just going to be a great day for the shelter.”

Murray said Downtown Tattoo offering to do this fundraiser is a very humbling experience and the shelter really appreciates it. He also brought the pet of the week with them. Starhealer is a 5 month old kitten who is ready to find his family.

“We are running a special for cats right now – $31 for the 31 days in October,” said Murray. “We still have lots of cats at the shelter and it’s a good time to come out and spend some time with our animals.”

Murray would like to thank Muskingum County for all their support and generous donations the past few weeks.
