Animal Shelter Society Gears Up for 10th Annual Yappy Hour.

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Animal Shelter Society is getting ready for their biggest fundraiser of the year.

The 10th Annual Yappy Hour will take place tomorrow, Thursday March 5th, from 6 to 8:30PM at the Zanesville Country Club.

April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, says attendees will experience an evening full of food prepared by local chefs, drinks, auction items, and live entertainment, with all of the proceeds heading back to take care of the animals in need.

“It has been unbelievable, the support, the amount of sponsorships that are coming in.” Gibson said. “We’re very excited about our chefs, of course the Zanesville Country Club, Chef Steve, Jim Watson and his group from the Barn, and of course Rake’s Place is a new one coming in. The support that we get for our 100% non-profit, it’s very needed, but it’s very humbling too. Sometimes we sit around the board room and we think about how we can improve and what we can do and people showing up for our biggest event? That really helps us and our mentality, and it lets us know we’re doing something kind of right.”

Gibson says the support from the community over the years has made Yappy Hour what it is today.

She says though that none of this would’ve been possible without the help from her Board Members, especially Beau Moyer.

“There’s going to be all kinds of different things there and a little bit of speaking, networking, and that.” Gibson said. “I’m going to take about 15 or 20 minutes to educate the over 200 people that’s going to be in that room, to let them know exactly what we do and have been doing for over 60 years at the Animal Shelter Society.”
