The Animal Shelter Society hosts annual holiday open house

ZANESVILLE, OHIO- A local animal shelter has opened it’s doors to find homes for animals and extend a little holiday cheer to the local community.
Saturday, The Animal Shelter Society hosted their fifth annual holiday open house. Members of the local community came together to enjoy cookies, punch and bond with animals that call the shelter home.
“Our open house is going on until 2:00 today. we have specials that are going on and we always pick the first Saturday of the month. so if folks miss us this year, they can catch us next year, first Saturday of the month,” said director Jodi Murray.
On the day of the open house, all of the adoption services are discounted. Although the goal is to raise money, coming together to enjoy the holiday season is what many look forward to.
“It makes me feel good when you see families come out together, and doing family activities. We do a lot of activities throughout the year that are family oriented. Seeing families come out together is probably the most rewarding thing for me,” said Murray.
With door prizes and lots of adoption specials, the crew hopes to find owners and a place the animals can call home. Murray tells us that the adoption center is a private non-profit that is well supported by the community.
