ZANESVILLE, OH- This Week’s Pet of the Week doesn’t act his age.

Meet Boone! He’s a 9-year-old beagle and terrier mix who’s been at the Animal Shelter society before.

April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Shelter, said Boone was brought back to them because his previous family was unable to care for him due to their health.

“You would never tell that he is 9.” Gibson said. “He’s a very healthy pup, he’s very loving, he’s the one that we take a lot on trips to the assisted living and into schools. He loves the Library, he loves visiting, the only thing with Boone, the only hiccup he has, is he wants to be the only dog in the house. He wants to be the only dog and he will let you know that.”

Gibson also wanted to announce that the Shelter will be closed to customers from Friday, April 3rd until Sunday, April 5th for the Easter and Passover Holidays.

She said her and her staff will be taking the time to deep clean their facility as well as caring for their over 100 animals.

Gibson added that they are eagerly gearing up for the second round of Feral Felines at the Tiny Tap Tavern.

“We did our very first one in February, it went off without a hitch, we’re very thankful and appreciative of the Tiny Tap Tavern, the Densmore’s are amazing folks.” Gibson said. “We believe in supporting local and that’s where that event’s going to be, April the 18th we have 12 or 13 tickets or reservations left, give me a call at the Shelter or stop by. And then we went ahead and just held on to some dates because we’d like to do a surprise, no we’re going to get the Summer Series out there. So the one after that will be May 9th and they are all listed on our website, all the dates, on our Facebook page.”
