Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week: Meet Cocoa!

ZANESVILLE, OH – This week’s Pet of the week is sugar, spice and everything nice!
Meet Cocoa! She’s a 3-year-old German Shepherd who’s spayed, up to date on her vaccinations and is searching for her forever home.
April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, says Cocoa came from Licking County where she was found outside tied to a tree.
She says Cocoa is not the biggest fan of cats and she can be dog selective.
“She has very high energy so we’re going to be very careful if we adopt her out to a family.” Gibson said. “We prefer no children under 10, there’s nothing mean about this dog, it’s a lot of high energy and if you’re not careful with that someone’s going to get knocked down, hurt, something like that.”
The Shelter is also putting the finishing touches on their Disco In-FUR-no event at the Lind Arena on Nov. 3rd.
Gibson says she grew up in the 70’s and is excited to see them come back to life as people get out and skate for a good cause.
“Next week is National Shelter Week, we’re going to do something every day, of course Monday is Disco In-FUR-no.” Gibson said. “Then as many know we partner with a lot of non-profits too that I am very particular with is Keely Warden, at Christ’s Table, and Jamie Trout at Eastside. Those two women do amazing things so what we’re going to do is come in and donate 5 boxes of stuffing or dressing for the holidays coming up and a $5 bill and you can get your animal microchipped, that’s a dog or a cat.”
