Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week: Meet Magic!

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – This weeks pet of the week at the Animal Shelter Society in Zanesville could bring a little holiday magic to your home.

Meet Magic. A 3-month kitten at the shelter who is loving and looking for a new home. The Animal Shelter Society has over 100 kittens and cats like Magic in their care and cats can be a great addition to your home.

“As you can tell, Magic is very a loving and very easy going kitten,” said April Gibson, executive director of the shelter. “Cats bring a lot of joy to folks if they don’t want to, you know, have to do constant care. Meaning, if you go to work 8 to 10 hours a day, you have a cat there at home, the cats going to greet you, if that cat’s done then the cat is done. So, there’s a lot of us who are cat folks. Everybody knows that I am. So, it makes it a little bit easier for some folks to have cats instead of dogs.”

Before the month of November is over, veterans can take advantage of adoptions specials on cats and dogs with some vet care specials as well. Gibson says that during the giving season, you can help the shelter care for the animals under their watch.

“We are in desperate need of clumping cat litter. You can imagine what we go through. We don’t just clean our kennels once a day, anybody that comes to our shelter knows that we have very high cleaning standards and protocols,” Gibson said. “So, if anybody wants to do a little bit of early Christmas shopping, we would greatly appreciate it. You can drop it off if it’s our customer service hours. [If] We’re closed you can just leave it outside. We’re here 7 days a week. But, we would really, really greatly appreciate it.”

The Animal Shelter Society will not have customer service hours on Thanksgiving and through Thanksgiving weekend until Monday Dec. 1.
