Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week: Meet Queen!

ZANESVILLE, OH – This Week’s Pet of the Week is true royalty.

Meet Queen! She is a 3-year-old chihuahua who’s spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and is awaiting her second chance at her palace.

April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, says she was surrendered, due to no fault of Queen, but she loves car rides and french fries, you know the finer things in life.

“We’d like to get her into a home that’s specifically some retired folks, older folks who are home and like to travel.” Gibson said. “She’s a Queen, she’s named Queen for a reason, I believe. She just needs to be that only animal in the house, no kids under 10, she likes it to be super, super quiet and just, it’s all about her. That’s exactly what it’s about.”

Gibson was happy to report that We Love Pets 26th Anniversary day went off without a hitch and 18 happy kitties found their forever homes last weekend.

She says they’re carrying that momentum into the 3rd Annual Music 4 Mutts happening on Wednesday the 14th in the Shelter’s Parking Lot.

It’s BOYB but Gibson says to make sure it’s not in a glass container, there will also be food trucks, Ray Ballard will provide a special brew, with all of the proceeds headed back to the Shelter.

She says once they get their bearings from that, it’s full steam ahead into the Inaugural Wicked Whiskers Sing-a-Long Brunch at A Taste of Ohio Wine, Bourbon, & Beer.

“We’re no strangers to the luncheon sing-a-long, we brought that into town and we’re very excited about it, we’re very proud about it.” Gibson said. “Happening on October 24th, doesn’t get in the way of any Ohio State Games, we chose a bye week, and it’s 10AM until 1PM so it shouldn’t interfere with much that’s going on. Remember, ladies only, 21 and over, it’s only $30 for the tickets and you need to call the Shelter now and get that taken care of.”
