Annette Schlater

Annette Marie (Archer) Schlater, 65, of Zanesville left life on Earth on Sunday evening, January 19, 2025.
She was born December 8, 1959, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Myron & Ruth (Cody) Archer and graduated from Tri-Valley High School in 1978.
Annette, commonly referred to as “Mother Nature,” loved all animals and creatures. She also had a green thumb that most admired and envied. She was a natural nurturer both at home in the garden, and in her career of 41 years as a Registered Nurse.
She loved a good car ride on a back road and in her younger days a good bareback ride on a quarter horse. She radiated pure joy baiting a hook, out on her dock and fishing with her grandchildren.
Annette was recently widowed after 42 years of marriage to her husband Arnie Schlater. Together they had two children, Race Schlater (Bailee Hampton) and Samantha (Wesley) Kanavel; three vivacious grandchildren, Colt, Briar, & Annie Kanavel. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her two brothers, Tim (Janet) Archer, and Dan (Annette) Newcome; four sisters, Jodie (Mark) Pape, Lucy Stephan, Lois (Ken) Norris, and Merrill (Tom) Rounds and two sisters-in-law, Robin Archer and Juanita (Rick) Steur.
One of Annette’s greatest fulfillments in life were her lifelong friendships. Julie Sterling and Glenna Cotterman, commonly known as her partner-in-crime and get-away driver, were there for her through all seasons of life. Their children Nick Roberts, Ben Baldwin, Mia Sterling and Seth Cotterman naturally became Annette’s bonus kids. She also had a special place in her heart for her niece Lisha Haupt.
In addition to her parents, Annette was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Archer and brother and sister-in-law Mike and Nancy Snurr.
