Annual Crop Walk for Hunger

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The community comes together to walk to raise awareness for those in need.
Every year groups participate in Crop Walk for Hunger. Walk Coordinator, Jerry Sutton, says many people around the world that are less fortunate often have to walk long distances just for food and water. So the community gets together to walk at Zane’s Landing Park to raise awareness.
“They’re out there walking. They walk as a group for whatever organization they’re with. It could be a church, it could just be a youth group, it could be anything.”
Each individual walker does their own fundraising before the walk. The day of the walk they turn in the money they raised. If they raise $100 they get a t-shirt. But the t-shirt isn’t important. Knowing that the money is helping make a difference is what keeps these walkers coming back.
“We’re raising money for people that are less fortunate in this country and in this community. Half of the money, or 25 percent, of the money that we make stays right here. And it’s going to go to Christ’s Table, half of it, and half to Salvation Army.”
The walkers can walk six miles, or less if they choose. Once they finished the walk they celebrated with food, snacks, and prizes. If you are interested in participating in the walk visit www.crophungerwalk.org.
