ZANESVILLE, OH – Sometimes the smallest steps can lead to the biggest change, especially when the whole community is walking together.

The annual Crop Walk is stepping up again this year to fight hunger, both across the globe and right here in Zanesville. The annual walk is a collaboration of churches from all denominations across our area, and it’s sponsored nationally by Church World Service and locally by the Muskingum County Association of Churches. The walk raises funds to fight hunger around the world and right here in Zanesville, supporting Christ’s Table.

“Our goal is to combat hunger here and abroad. Locally, our funds stay with Christ’s Table, so we’re able to help beat hunger right here in our own community. Then, through Church World Service, the portion of our funds that go there provide disaster relief here in our country when there are tornado’s, hurricanes, and things like that. We’re also providing livestock and agricultural opportunities in other parts of the globe to help beat hunger and allow them some sustainability.” Crop Walk Coordinator, Christina McCandlish said.

This year’s event takes place on Sunday, September 21st at the Rogge Pavilion, following the Collegial Woods Trail behind the Ohio University Zanesville campus. The walk steps off at 2 PM, with registration at 1:30. There is no cost to join, just a donation to support hunger relief.

“I think that it’s important for everyone to be involved in their community and when we have the resources, we should be able to pass those on.” McCandlish said.

You can register ahead of time on the Crop Walk Facebook page or sign up at the event.
